I caught this rabbit using this cage set up as a dead fall trap. At first the rabbit would get scared when we approached the cage and would jump against the side of the cage until it hurt its nose. Its calmer now but I haven't decided what I want to do with him now that I have him. Should I trap more rabbits and raise them for food or should I let this rabbit go after his nose heals? I have 2 kids. One voted to let it go the other voted to raise rabbits and eventually butcher them for food. I think its healthy for kids to know were their food comes from but I'm not sure if raising rabbits for food is the way to teach that lesson.

  • can you make a video how to make your trap that caught this rabbit please?

  • @TheHunted10 All I did was prop the cage up on a typical figure 4 trap. I think the bait is more important than the trap itself. I used oats mixed with salt and sugar. The salt is the most important of the 3.

  • cottontails aren't really ideal for meat rabbits, if you want to do that you should buy a new zealand or californian rabbits and go from there.

  • @kujofox I got 5 new zealands and a rabbit I'm not sure what breed it is

  • POSITIVE COMMENTARY

Rabbit is a very healthy source of nutrition.

I will say it with wisdom: If you cut the rabbit loose both girls will miss out, if you keep it one and or hopefully both will only gain and grow.

There is one other thing DO NOT ALLOW THIS RABBIT OR ITS BLOODLINE TO CROSS WITH THAT OF DOMESTIC RABBITS !!!!!!! MONGRELIZE!!!!!!!

  • @Chocoboskickyourass We let it go and bought 3 new zealand white rabbits to breed. We now have 7 rabbits and have been eating the domesticated bunnies. I doubt I'll cross breed with a wild rabbit but I'm sure mongels cook up just fine. :-)

  • LET HIM GOO !! PLEASE !!

  • @CoutureMe101 Typical response. Wishing harm on humans in favor of an animal how pathetically Peta of you. This is why you're not taken seriously defending the rights of an animal as you treat people like shit. By the way this rabbit was eating the veggies in my garden and for every veggie it ate I was forced to eat a whopper.
