There's an amazing archeological find under the Treasury bldg.
The ancient city of Petra and "The Treasury" building (Al-Khazneh). Enjoying a rest (after walking the Siq) with our guide, archeologist Sami Al-Nawafleh, who was one of two leads on the project right under the Treasury building, shown here. Nov. 5, 2009. Still photos are at http://www.pbase.com/andrys/petra -- there are 120+ shots of what the basic walk is like and it's faster if you choose the slideshow instead. From Wikipedia:
Petra was chosen as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007 and a World Heritage Site since 1985. The site is best known from the film "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" but has been used in several other films. The famous poem "Petra" by John William Burgon: It seems no work of Man's creative hand,
by labour wrought as wavering fancy planned; But from the rock as if by magic grown,
eternal, silent, beautiful, alone! Not virgin-white like that old Doric shrine,
where erst Athena held her rites divine; Not saintly-grey, like many a minster fane,
that crowns the hill and consecrates the plain; But rose-red as if the blush of dawn,
that first beheld them were not yet withdrawn; The hues of youth upon a brow of woe,
which Man deemed old two thousand years ago, match me such marvel save in Eastern clime,
a rose-red city half as old as time. "

Ahmed or solanoana ... Really? You never know on the Net, but if so, please give him a big hello and our thanks for a great time learning about the place. It's not often that we get to learn about Petra from one of the archeologists involved with the Treasury bldg area.
