A view of the sawah padi / rice fields north of Ubud in Bali, Indonesia. This clip is shot from a bambu tower at Sari Organik, a farm which supplies its own restaurant - the Warung Bodag Maliah / Overflowing Basket - in the middle of the fields. It is on the well-known Ubud Rice Fields Walk and run by Nila, a beautiful Balinese woman from Kintamani in the mountains.
Throughout my stay in Bali in June and July 2009, I ate at this wonderful restaurant with its views across the Campuan valley, the volcanic spine of Bali and closer in the rice terraces as they were ploughed, flooded and planted in that time honoured manner.
The organic produce from the nearby farm was supplemented with other fresh produce from other parts of the island, and prepared and served by Nila and her very cheerful and gracious staff.
A memorable experience!
