This is by far, the cruelest horse sport in history. thousands of horses die each year from it. I'm disgusted by it.

how many of these jockeys and horses died? Steeplechasing is the most dangerous horse sport out there... and more horses die than in any other sport.

Put this in perspective... The horses do love it; you can see it in their faces, and the way they prick their ears and pull against the bit. They enjoy it - it's in their blood to run, and, when directed, to compete and to win. For this reason, I don't call steeplechasing cruel, as there is no intention to, and no pleasure in, hurting the horses. However, there is a level of recklessness, and there does need to be some major changes to steeplechasing to ensure the safety of the horses.

@MyPonyMrDarcy trust me they slow down i go to races (actually i was at one today) and i love racing and they do slow down, no they don't do SJ collected canters but they slow up enough to make the jump and what deaths the horses? horses die in fields stepping in holes and in other sports like XC but that doesn't mean wrap your horse in cotton wool and not compete does it? accidents happen, enjoy watching horses run, they enjoy it too!

I honestly dont give a damn about the humans who got hurt anyway. I just put it in there to make the people who value human lives more than horse lives happy. what have you got to say about all those deaths? they do NOT slow down haha. you can just watch a race and know its not true!

@MyPonyMrDarcy oh and my horse was a chaser and he finds jumping at a gallop alot easier than cantering over them, when he canters he knocks them but when he gallops/canters very fast he clears it easily

@MyPonyMrDarcy The horse that jumped into the crowd was in australia and it was down to stupid planning, why have a wall there? It is stupid, not the sport but that particular course layout. Also they slow down for fences in steeplechasing, they slow up three strides out the reason they fall is if the race has lots of runners in it which is a problem i admit (i think no more than 20 horses should be allowed in a jumps race) but other than that there is nothing wrong with it.
I have no idea if any died.
