  • This was a radio station. I was an Amer. Advisor (1967-68) assigned to RF/PF QuiNhon. During early morning hours of Tet-1968, VC took over station. That morning I went to the station with a company of RF/PF. We took number of casualties trying to cross courtyard to get into the building. The Province Chief would not let me call gun ships to help us out. Korean Tiger Div. offered to help and Province Chief approved. The ROKs use two jeep mounted 106 Recoilless and did damage seen. No VC survived.

  • @shadysidejeff Thanks for the information -- always nice to get info from someone who was on the spot.

  • Slight differences. I was stationed at the 67th Evac 67-68. The building shown was

called the radio station, as I recall, and it was the South Koreans ( Capital or White Horse Divisions) who stormed the building, and not the ARVNs, who essentially had no presence in QuiNhon . 2 other Army docs on the staff then have returned to QuiNhon in the past few years, and both said essentially all

of the Viet citizens are young and friendly, and have no memories of the conflict

  • @clfgef

Thanks for the info. I was being a "tourist" at the time I shot the film of "radio station." having come to Qui Nhon from An Khe to get some minor eye surgery at one of the army medical units there.

  • Who shot this film?

  • I shot it myself while with the 2/17 Artillery in 1968

  • I'm sitting looking out over the beach in Qui Nhon as I watch this, watching fishing boats. We're about to go visit some places around here. It's really a lovely place. Actually, one of the cham towers you got a vid of is just near my gf's village. Interesting: same place, very different experiences.
