  • Gee, I just went fishing with the top guide in Hilton Head and he said 90% braid on his reels -- w/ 10% configurations of mono -- in all his fishing situations (beginners and expert) We were fishing spinrods. Look, my segments are less than 30 seconds and yet the majority can't follow even that; I am advising BEGINNERS. One can cast further w/ a baitcaster if one is immune to backlash. My demographic is NOT Horton, Fritts etc!

  • oh so thats what the thing on my bail is i always wondered

  • ??? you mean the trigger (only on 1-3 mfrs' reels)?

  • what do u mean only on 1-3 mfrs reels

  • Who made your reel? Shimano? They have a Quick Fire II trigger. I forget the names of the other companies. Cabelas had one in their catalog.

  • Thank you !!

  • That's what we're here for ...

  • For those of you who don't get it - Spinning reels have no friction, you open the bail which allows the line to come off freely. A bait caster has a line guide which slows down the cast creating friction on the line. This is one of the reasons why some conventional reels do not come with a top bar or line guide; For example surf reels. In fact you will see most surf reels are spinning reels and their primary objective is distance.

  • 1. How the fuck do you cast further with a spinning reel? are casting 1/8 oz weights or something? that's gotta be the only way you can cast further with a spinning reel.

  • 1) what the hell are you doing with braid on your spinning reel? the only time you should ever think about that is if you're skipping docks and aren't good enough to do it with your baitcaster

    2) if you can cast further with your spinning reel than a baitcaster, maybe you should keep practicing. Baitcasters cast farther - hands down. If spinning reels did, don't you think Tim Hornton, David Fritts, etc would be throwing crankbaits with them? After all, distance = depth with a crankbait...

  • i love my daiwa reels ! :)

  • i love my shimano reels i wouldnt fish without em

  • it was shimano
