What a disaster! Here's the result of 'turning your camera off to save the battery'.
Here we see LMS 'Princess Royal' Class No.6201 "Princess Elizabeth" on 'The Doric Olympian' thunder through Long Buckby Station in Northamptonshire after watching a Class 66 pass through light engine. I had just turned my camera off after a Class 350 had departed only to see the rapidly oncoming trail of smoke rounding the curve. What you see of 6201is from where my camera eventually started up and commenced recorded... damn.

  • Great Video, 5 Stars! I saw her at Tring.

  • yes because during the winter months the steam engines cant do all the work. so the disels provide all the steam heating for dining coach and heating on the train

  • on the mainline!???

  • also to provide steam heating in the coaches during the winter months

  • whoops! turning the camera off saves battery, but it loses parts of awesome footage

  • That's what they said with 46115 but that blew a cylinder cover at Eccles on the Cotton mill Express!

  • @RailwayFanatic92220

On this occasion the 47 on the back was used to get the train from Birmingham to Crewe to pick up 6201 and then stayed on the back to provide Electric Train Heat and to help in the positioning moves between Kensington Olympia, Clapham and Euston, which required a lot of reverse running.

No need for 'insurance' we had an excellent engine on the front in 6201!!!!

  • Oh,k then :)
