I read in my psychology book that of American men, 94% admit to masturbating, but that doesn't make it fulfilling or satisfying any sexual desire. Masturbation teaches us to depend on ourselves for gratification. It is only about feeling good, but i think life and sex were meant to be more than just feeling good. Life should be rich and complex with highs and lows and it should be about loving other people, and i think masturbation is one way we avoid living that way.

Sorry, while I'll admit that sexual addiction, abusive pornography and infidelity are terrible things, religion is not the only way to get over these things. I've seen people fight depression and mental illness and never have I seen religion offer a real cure for them. Get help from a professional instead of using imaginary father figures that you can beg for forgiveness. It's a dangerous path for the mind to go on. Even God presents an abusive father image, you're supposed to love and fear him.

I suffered from sexual addiction for years. Sure, to those who don't go through it, it seems funny. But it's not funny when you lose your wife, the right to see your kids, your home, and are out on the streets. It's not funny when the self-hatred gets so bad, you attempt suicide multiple times. It's not funny when you shut yourself off from everyone you know, or hurt people you know by being inappropriate.

And yet... and yet God freed me from that Hell! God found a way to save me!
