This is the original vocal sample taken from Zero G's - Deepest India sample cd.

This beautiful vocal sample has been used in many songs (sometimes in near entirety and sometimes just parts of it) and this is it in it's rawest form.

Most notably it's been used in Ikarus' 'Ancient Lullaby', Shpongle's 'Monster Hit' and OTT's 'Smoked Glass and Chrome' and I'm sure many more.

OTT uses additional parts that Ikarus does not use. This sample being Aao Huzoor Tumko - sung by the wonderful Asha Bhosle used in the film Kismat. I'm not sure if this song was originally written for the film but that's another story!

OTT doesn't use much of the Zero G - Bhawaani sample in Smoked Glass and Chrome but uses Aao Huzoor Tumko almost exlusively.

OTT modifies the Bhawaani sample (raising the pitch and adjusting the tempo) so that it blends in with the Aao Huzoor Tumko vocals. It's subtle, but it's there!!

Listen to:
Ikarus at 1.54 in this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-E98gSmgQE)
and
OTT at 1.30 in this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L4pyS6pq1I&feature=related )

Tracks in this video are played in order from the Bhawaani folder on the disc:
BHAWAANI 1.1
BHAWAANI 1.2
BHAWAANI 1.3
BHAWAANI 2.1
BHAWAANI 2.2
BHAWAANI 2.3

I've tried to cover as much info as possible in this description - if there is anything else I am missing or not quite right, let me know and I'll change it. Massive kudos goes to MusicalSari - visit at http://www.youtube.com/user/MusicalSari

Zero-G Deepest India is a 3-CD Set of Vocals, Instruments and Orchestras/ Ensembles recorded on location in India specially for Zero-G, during 1996 and 1997.

It explores every area of musical emotion from elation to despair - from hauntingly beautiful vocals, through countless joyous ensembles to authentic indian instrumental phrases. There has never been anything quite like this collection available before - anywhere in the world - and therefore much interest is anticipated from musicians and composers who seek out and appreciate only the very highest standard of professional sample libraries.

  • Great job dear, "deepest india" is probably most popular sample cd used by may artists.

But can you tell me from where the sample of "karunesh alibaba" has been taken.

I am talking about ney (the flute in beginning) and the vocals.

and do you now any other cd like "zero g deepest india"

  • @mohitnetwork That's a really beautiful song, I've never heard it before though - also, I don't know of any other similar sample cd's. sorry I couldn't have been any help!

  • GREAT POST MAN!!!! I love it! :) Ikarus did some GREAT JOB by joining it with great music! :)

P.S. Ott is nice, too... ;)

  • @reconProbs No problem friend! It's good to get to the bottom of these things ;) Check out Entheogenic - Pagan Dream Machine, for they too also use the 'Aao Huzoor Tumko' sample. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure if they use any samples from this vid. I agree - I think Ikarus use the sample to perfection!

  • this should have more hits.

  • @keenterbounds Agreed, I've tried spreading the word on lastfm as there was a little interest in the sample a few years ago when OTT and Shpongle had first released their respective tracks, but it hasn't really attracted too much attention.

    :)

  • @Leeloo1000000 Ah yes, the ultimate mystery! Something Zero G himself probably only knows. I believe it maybe a Punjab folk song, probably specific to an area where the vocalist was born - but really guess is as good as any.

  • But what's the name of the song or the singer? Is it a traditional piece? I'd love to find the lyrics for that...
