Found an old VHS in the garage of a Stompers show from the mid/late '80s. New at converting from VHS to DVD to upload but will try to do more soon. Video jumps a little and doesn't alwasy synch just right but you get the jist of it. Rock and Roll!
I remember seeing The Stompers open for U2 at the Club Casino at Hampton Beach. They were amazing and I remember saying to my girlfriend after the Stompers energetic set was that U2 has a tough act to follow. Needless to say, U2 had no problem following The Stompers because they were absolutley incredible and far exceeded my expectations. It was one amazing night of music.
I don't think I'm overstating the case when I say that this video is the reason that they invented Youtube. Great to see the Stompers from back in the day.
I saw The Stompers back in the 80's at Georgetown High School. The next day I was on my way to work on the Blue Line wearing my Stompers t-shirt and who should be sitting right across from me is the drummer. What a coincidence.

I think this video might actually be taken from Western Mass in Sunderland, MA at a place called the Rusty Nail.

This was a great era - the best bands in Boston brought so many people out that you almost had to stack them like firewood.
It'll never be like that again - if you were there, you know how special it was.
