this is way cool, and pretty fast too. check it out.
Don't know where we got it, but it was purchased new, around 10 years ago. It's shelled hundreds of bushels of peas and beans. It's best to put them in a bucket of water before feeding the sheller. It just works better. Dried peas don't seem to shell as easy as fresh ones. And, of course, the bigger the peas, the better. I guess we use the water mainly to wash the sand off the hull. They will get pretty dirty, just from dropping them on the ground when you are picking them, plus, it's just a dirty enviorment since they grow in dirt.... Smaller peas, really small ones, will usually get mashed with the rollers. And, I assure you that an hour leaning over that thing is HARD on your back. I intend to make a special table for it this year. It will be much easier if you can get close to the sheller.
Then, when they are all shelled, you'll have to pick through them, and take out anything that is bad, some will be rotten, or whatever. The sheller shells it all.

  • This looks like (the little sheller) made in Moultrie Ga. If you wet the pea hulls, it will shell twice as fast. Good job.
