Amazing value these DeArmond M75 - Built in Korea by Guild, has DeArmond single coils (similar to those fitted to vintage Gretsch and Guild instruments) made in the USA, USA electrics and decent tuners. Solid Agathis set neck and body, DeArmond Bigsby, 2 x volume and 2 x tone. Played through an overdriven Rivera M60. The only flaw is the tunamatic style fixed bridge, flimsy and really does not work with the 'Digsby' vibrato. I replaced it with a Wilkinson Roller bridge, well made and much more robust, works with the rest of the guitar and adds a little extra sweetness and sustain. requires drilling out to accommodate the larger studs.

  • Yes both have chambers, that doesn't make them lighter! This was stil a heavy guitar and with the Gigsby (Guild made Bigsby great unit)I have sold this guitar after developing shoulder problems - a nerve and ligament impingement. I now have a superlight Korean guitar with P90s and my Tokai ES

  • I think most of it is around the myxolidian, - could be wrong. This is some years old now - wish I still looked like that. Hopefully I have improved thanks to the constructive input of people like yourself.

  • OK, thanks useful to know. Our pond is only 10 feet across so I feel OK that no squirrels will be placed in danger while they enjoy the facilities.

  • Which one is this? It has "by Guild" on the trussrod cover. Fender acquired Guild and as far as I know these were sacrificed in favour of the Electromatic Gretschs - probably a good call as they have been so incredibly popular

  • Yeah you are right! Sadly no longer have that amp, they are really versatile atone generators. Have scaled back to a single Hayden Mofo and two 1x12's

  • These whole line guitars were discontinued by Fender, I believe to make way for the line of Gretsch Electromatics - which have proven more popular.. I saw an M75T go on e ebay for $220 recent;y in silver sparkle. I plan to hang onto this and may even look for a later M77 without the tram as a backup. Happy hunting

  • I want one of those guitars so badly. I bid on one on eBay,but the bidding went too high

  • Like your style. Im thinking of buying one of these. I heard a guy on youtube playing it clean and it sounded as good as yours does with overdrive. Nice one.

  • The 72s and 77s were semi hollow/chambered, right?

  • Came here to learn more about the M75 - more specifically those 2k pickups. can't tell from your setup. Can I offer some unsolicited advice/comments? Your playing style is very pedantic - you never venture away from the minor pentatonic

try playing against the beat, or around it, skip a measure altogether. maybe repeating every phrase twice, just to see how you can play the second one different. these things will lift you above the typical blues jam playeer.

  • damn nice

  • @kevcaster The M77 without the the trem has humbuckers, not the single coils. The single coils were in the M77T.

  • In response to 1:53, yes they can, but not for very long.
