That sounds familiar. A strawman constructed by Kent Hovind I think. No serious scientist said that, Kent Hovind said that scientists said that. I think it would be reasonable to believe that is VFX's source.

I may sound like I'm defending VFX's rediculous ideas, I'm not, but oxygen was most abundant during the Carboniferous Period (about 300 million years ago) allowing invertebrates grew to enourmous sizes; Arthropleura was an ancestor of centipedes & millipedes as long as a car that could rear up to look a man in the eye, Mesothelae was a spider as large as a human head & Meganeura was an eagle-sized dragonfly...unfortunately for VFX's argument, evidence proves humans never got supersized like that
