One of the only recordings existent (and the only solo one made so far public) of the legendary pianist Mordehai Simoni, beautifully performing Chopin's Etude Op. 25 nr. 1 in A flat major, recorded sometime in 1955, Simoni is 19 years old. Couple of years later he won the first Rubinstein Piano comeptition, headed by the maestro himself. The recording is combined with some rare photos of Young Simoni playing the piano, in encounters with Arthur Rubinstein and Stephan Askenase as well as a Concert announcement of his recital in Wigmore Hall, January 1962, his last public performance.

  • He used to be my piano teacher, and he is a very close friend of me and all my family. He lives in Rio and is really well. I talked to him on the phone today. He is my master.

  • I knew him in Israel, Where is he at the present?
