http://RainbowMaya.com - Here I am in Punta Gorda Belize wondering how to make an African Carribean drum like that of the Garifuna people. So I found this Garifuna Rasta craftsman and he was happy to make me a drum in the traditional style of his people with all natural materials from the jungle (except for the string). Check out this drum makers skill. If you want your own custom drum made, you can find him on the corner of Main St. & Church St. in Punta Gorda Belize.

  • Yes, I live in Belize, but out in the Cayo district in Benque Viejo. Punta Gorda is an awesome place, I absolutely love it there and have a few friends there. I think it would be a great place to live too.

  • that was weird at the end.

  • This a great primitive drum sound, not industrial sound. More flavour is found in handmade drums.

  • i met this guy and i enjoyed seeing him working on his art with simplicity and talent , i have some of his rings at home , i like his no- electricity -style ,kind of people that make pg interesting .

  • rubin is a crack head he was born in the UK he is the biggest mooch in PG I live here and you cant go by his place without him tryin to scam you

  • This guy on the corner of Church and Main Streets is a well-known crack dealer called Tommy, and the drum he has made is NOT a Garifuna drum: Garifuna drums do NOT have a thin “waist” like this. The drum he has made is a Creole drum, which is completely different. Garifuna drums are MUCH bigger than this, and they ALL have wire or string across the skin to provide the distinctive buzz you hear in Garifuna drumming. Do a google image search for garifuna drum and you will see what I mean.

  • good drum bad player sorry

  • lol, what a nob. I bet those rastas thought you were a nob head.

  • How dare you play that rudimentary shit on a Garifuna drum? Punta, Hungu Hungu, Chumba, something!!

    DUNGBE GARAWOUN!!!

  • Very Nice!

  • I met this guy. He is Garifuna, the cultural group he was born into and remains a part of. He is also a Rastafarian, which means he practices the religion of Rastafarianism. These two groups are not exclusive, in fact a significant number of young Garifuna I met identified with Rastafarianism. The drum is a Garifuna design although slightly smaller and lacking the cord-snares of the common "primero" drum.
