BBC Italia '90 World Cup title sequence

The classic opening title sequence used by the BBC for their Italia '90 World Cup coverage.

Credited with bringing opera to the football masses courtesy of Luciano Pavarotti's rendition of 'Nessun Dorma', resulting in it being adopted as a football anthem.

Such was it's popularity following the World Cup, the song was released by the 'Three Tenors' and reached number 2 in the UK singles charts.

This was a unforgettable year, I met the England team at Bisham abbey outside a pub when they were on their way to Italy. I then went to the finals with my dad and watched a couple of matches in Genoa and Turin. After it I lost 2 grandads in the months after it from cancer, all at 10 years old.

The last highlight of WC 2010 would be Suarez martyring himself by slapping the ball away, and Gyan missing the penalty. Suarez was never the villain, but the hero.
