  • I love this, and I mean this next question in no derogatory manner, but why do the congregation stand for this piece, and yet not for the others? Thank you, and God bless!

  • @miniriddick2 It's tradition. People stand to honor kings and we stand to honor the King whenever we sing this song. Wikipedia says: "The British custom of standing for the 'Hallelujah' chorus originates from the belief that, at the London premiere, King George II stood up at words: 'For the Lord God Omnipotent reigneth'."

  • Yup, it's Amish country: Lancaster County, PA.

We don't claim to be the most skilled--we know we're not close to the best--but rather our goal is to praise God and bring glory to Him. We spend a good bit of time before each program praying that God would receive lots of glory and that people would be strengthened in their spiritual walk and encouraged to follow Him with their whole hearts.

  • @hansmast Oh, I see, thank you! I know we did in Britain, but I didn't know it was done in America as well! Thank you, God bless :)

  • I JUST HAD A GLORY ENCOUNTER WITH THE LORD OF LORDS AND KING OF KINGS LISTENING TO THIS. I REALLY NEEDED TO HEAR THIS. I THINK GOD WAS IN HEAVEN BEING BLESSED BY THIS AMAZING RENDITION. IT MAKES THE SPIRIT-MAN INSIDE ME WANT TO JUMP RIGHT OUT OF MY BODY AND BE IN THE FULLY MANIFESTED PRESENCE OF THE LORD. HE REIGNS!!!

  • @hansmast You are SO right. We sing so as to parise God, not to please the judgemental ear of others. But your rendition is indeed praiseworthy. I can only guess at the amount of practice you've put into it. Congratulations and God Bless you all. Thanks for posting this wonderful piece of music.

  • (out of the mouths of babes)

"....and He shall reign forever and ever" even though our lives are brief.

Legend has it King George II was so moved upon hearing this piece at the first London performance that he stood up. When the king stood, EVERYBODY stood.

  • @hansmast But you sang it with heart and a lot of respect for the song & the Spirit that originally inspired it. And for that I give you a big Like! Well done!

  • Thanks for this performance may and our LORD who is God our Father richely bless these fellow christians in PA. I once visited your community with a friend and won't ever forget it. Thanks also for giving the glory to God. Perhaps some day in heaven will all be together like this.

  • They are Christian headcoverings in obedience to the scripture....I Corinthians 11:1-16 Sometimes they are referred to as veilings or kapps. Anabaptists (of which Mennonites are of) still believe and practice this ordinance. As do I for that matter. I hope that answers your question okay.

  • Sorry about that! Thanks for clearing that up!
