A change of tact for Benjamin Netanyahu, but his support for a two-state solution with the Palestinians, came with strings attached:
[Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister]:
"If we receive this guarantee for demilitarization and the security arrangements required by Israel, and if the Palestinians recognise Israel as the nation of the Jewish people, we will be prepared for a true peace agreement and to reach a solution of a demilitarized Palestinian state alongside the Jewish state."
His concessions came with further conditions, as he called for the Palestinian Authority to regain control of the Gaza strip:
[Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister]:
"Above all Palestinians must make one important choice. They must decide between the way of peace and the way of Hamas. The Palestinian Authority must impose law and order in the Gaza Strip and overcome Hamas. Israel will not negotiate with terrorists trying to destroy it."
Other stumbling blocks remain, as the right-wing leader refused any halt to the building of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
No right to return either, for the millions of Palestinian refugees and their descendents.
Netanyahu insisted Jerusalem remained the united capital of Israel, and Palestinians must recognize [Israel] as the nation of the Jewish people.
The Palestinian authority wasted no time in delivering its' verdict, saying Israel had "paralysed" the peace process.
In Gaza City, Hamas Spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri called on Arab nations to form a "stronger opposition" towards Israel:
[Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas Spokesperson]:
"Despite his reference to a desire for peace, it was a racist speech that talks about the right of Jews to the land of Palestine and denies the right of Palestinians on their land, Jerusalem and the right of refugees to return. And it did not offer the Arabs anything but an economical peace."
Netanyahu's speech was widely seen as a bid to end the worst rift in U.S.-Israeli relations in a decade.
In a further move which will please Washington, Netanyahu called for peace talks to re-start immediately.
A White House statement called it an "important step forward", but made no mention of the call for demilitarization.
And it might not deliver the same enthusiasm for other key issues which remain unresolved
A 2-state solution is against the Quran AND the Hebrew Bible. The Quran states that the land is for the descendants of Jacob. The Hebrew Bible states that the stranger that lives among the descendants of Jacob are to be considered as native born. It also says that for punishment of disobedience - the only ones to be left in the land are poor farmers.

Netanyahu did not really agree to a two-state solution, despite what he claims. What he actually agreed to was a bantustan solution.

A two state solution will only work when things are on equal terms, peace must ring true across all our lands of earth.
