Hear is Marion Try Slaughter (Vernon Dalhart) (1883-1948) singing You Can't Blame me for that on an Electric era Edison Diamond Disc Record from 1928. It is being played on an Edison Disc Phonograph (Model A-250) produced about 1913. The Model A-250 was the first Edison Disc Phonograph Model produced by Edison. This one has Edison's earliest version of his plunger style volume control. Note the plunger in the middle of the internal horn inside the machine, and the brass vertical volume control control to the right of the turntable. This was later change to a sliding control positioned in front of the Turntable and front portion of the bed plate.

  • There are two answers to that Question. Edison's DD's were originally issued at 80 rpms and remained that way throughout their production, with the exceptions of real late electrical issues which were at 78rpm. Of course finally Edison stopped production on his 1/4" thick Diamond Disc Records in 1929, when he came out with his regular 78rpm records in 1929. But they only lasted a few months before he finally closed the doors completely on his production of records later on that same year.
