There was a young kid (Austin) in the front row who had a sign that said, "John, can I play 'Belief' with you?" John invited Austin up on stage, set him up with an electric guitar and let him play the song with him. At the end of it, John said to him, "That's your guitar". It was so sweet and the kid kicked ass.

  • its doesnt matter if the guitar sucks. its the memory behind the guitar that counts.

  • I love when performers do this. It really helps connect with the crowd and surely makes someone's day. For the same song at their shows, Green Day has three people from the crowd come up and play for the three of them. At a show I was at, Billie Joe gave a guy his guitar too. John doing this, especially with someone young, surely endears us to him even more!

  • @DiamondMusicChannel its a squier, he says it at the begining of the vid and there are other vids closer to the stage and you can see it there too... still. coolesst shit ever

  • @bass11player91 i think its a fender strat. not a fender squier

btw, the label wouldnt be the people buying his guitars, his manager would have people to buy them.

  • I'd take that squire and MAKE IT SOUND GOOD after that... I'd do anything I could to make that my number one guitar.. I'd send it into the Fender Custom Shop and have them make it perfect... better yet.. more than perfect

  • @MattMoneyMusic He said "get out the right squire for him" in the beginning

  • @ndr523 For real, I'd die to get on stage and play with John let alone have him give me a guitar. Lol

  • Austin, don't wash that hand.

  • @excaza It's not that they GIVE him crappy squires, it's that when he warm's up, they don;t want to shell out thousands of dollars to replace his nice fenders when they can pay 150 for something that sounds good enough for a sound check, A LOT of bands do this. i'm not saying squire is great, but as far as a starter guitar go, they are good, my problem with them is the workmanship and construction tends to give out after only a few years of use.

  • John Mayer plays squires now...as a warm up guitar, most musicians use beaters like those because they are cheap and the label doesn't mind paying 150 bucks for a couple guitars.

  • How do you know it's a squier.
