Shine - Flight of the Bumblebee

This is one of my all time favourite movie scenes ever. It has actually inspired me as a human and musician. The overall great movie "Shine" with a great Geoffrey Rush in the leading roll, is a masterpiece by all means.

In this scene we see the pianist David Helfgott (G Rush) trying hard to fight his mental illness, which sadly has been worse due to his piano playing. After some time keeping himself from playing he can't resist anymore and sits down by the first best piano he can find.

There are many reasons why I love this scene. I love how he liberates himself by playing and how he goes from being a depressed and sad man to someone who loves life through his music.

The really sad thing about this scene (and there are a few of them), is that there are thousands upon thousands of PRICKS like that blonde haired guy who was working at the restaurant. They're quick to judge, beings they've been brainwashed in judging a book by it's cover their entire life. And then when they're proven wrong, they get that look of denial on their face. These types of people I refer to as "mediocrytes". They can't comprehend anything beyond the norm, like in this scene. Beauty!

@UnrealHel nice, thanks for sharing that with me........now i can call the majority of people who i come across on a daily basis, "Jantelagen's".........i meet so many of these kinds of people in my profession (tennis), that it makes me ill..........I'm not sure which word suits them the best, "Jantelagen" or "Prick" .........Both will suffice :-)

@theatlantean3 There's a word for that in swedish, "Jantelagen" - or purely translated The Law of Jante. It basically means that you should never think you're something special.
