  • @rey8520 he might not have tapped out when he fought Sakuraba the 2000 GP, but they threw in the towel. That's even worst than tapping out, that's mentally quitting! Of course Royce says his "corner" threw it in to save face.

  • Im a correction officer and i train in judo, i take inmates down and have them cuffed so fast before they know what happened why anyone would go straight to their backs is beyond me

  • @k00lkane Just check out which techniques Helio Gracie shows on youtube for self-defense. Or the techniques Royce Gracie shows in a book about self-defense. There is only little and very simple ne waza used. But there are a lot of Judo nage waza (and some Aikido-like moves) shown. He who wants to learn throws with devastating power should train Judo.

  • @01Proust ?

  • @01Proust How do BJJ rules have no relevance to self defence!

  • Gracie top fighters would always lose against top judokas under the rules of judo. On concrete, every black belt judoka would throw a black belt BJJ fighter one time and than the BJJ guys would be KO. Even under the BJJ rules which have no relevance at all for self-defense the Gracies lost sometimes. Their style lacks power, lacks balance, lacks devastating throws. All they can do is rolling on the ground with their funny rules.

  • no can defend

  • Unfortunately the Gracie clan believe that they are more infalible than the Pope,

that was a clear Win to Yoshida !!

  • @1024joaquin the reason actually, is that Pride didn't want to lose the Gracie family in Pride FC. Gracie insisted he wasn't out and demanded the result be changed in to a no contest or else they would pull out. and by the way, Gracie never taps out. He'd rather have a broken femur than concede himself. :p and if you look closely at 8:28 to 8:32 his hand goes limp from holding Yoshida's gi. He definitely was out.

  • This proves that it's the fighter not the style, because anyone of them could have ended the fight early if given the chance earlier. My opinion whoever gets the upperhand first usually wins the round. Good stuff for both BJJ and Judo
