  • I'm not sure what your point is...that you are a non-hacker that couldn't do the work, or that you washed out because you couldn't spell, speak or write.

Read history my friend and you'll see that the U.S. Coast Guard has served proudly and bravely in every armed conflict is U.S. history since 1790.

Thanks for shipping out, we all appreciate it.

  • The hook is called a "TALON". It grabs the grate on the flight deck to hold the helicopter in place. It is mounted in the airframe and can be removed when they are not on deployment to save weight.

  • love the whine of the engine on this helicopter!! cool vid!

  • that's cool

  • Good one 012. Hey BTW, what activates the lil' snatch device on the belly? Squat switch? Never saw one b4.

  • I bet you are one of those guys who wanted to be a rescue swimmer after getting all wet from watching Ashton Kutcher in "The Guardian" but got kicked out of Cape May for being a dick. Every CG swimmer I've met loved their job. Anyhow I'm glad you're out of the CG. Go join a different branch.

  • STAN is an acronym for "Standardization". At regular interval, coast guard shore, afloat and aviation units are tested and evaluated by a "STAN Team" over a several day visit. They enure that all units are complying with the regulations and completing operational requirements in the same manner. It is also an opportunity to look for areas that can be or are being improved upon.

  • What exactly does STAN stand for?

  • That's what I'm talking about - FAC and daytime. Props to my peeps at the Ship-Helo STAN team. What a great job!

  • The hook on the bottom is called a talon. Its mostly used when the ship is in heavy seas to keep the helo from tipping over.
