( NaNoWriMo 2009 ) Day 06.

Another disappointment for me, personally, today, but I had my reasons (reasons, not excuses; I could have gotten up earlier and written more or I could have kept going, but it's all explained in the video). In a bit of a rush today, like I said I would be :O I have lasagne cooling beside me whilst I upload this XD

From off in the tangles there was a weak yelp, one that cut short prematurely. Alswytha silencing herself. Alphas refrained from showing weakness, physical or otherwise, unless absolutely necessary. To do so presented opportunities to ambitions packmates who might desire leadership for themselves. Gareth would not permit any challenges now or at any other time during Alswytha's healing, but it was the right of any female in the pack to challenge for the wounded she-wolf's seat either if they felt they were more suited to the role or if she was unfit somehow.

Bitter anger and disappointment crashed through Cole like violent waves against rocks. He had known something was wrong and yet had not done more, had only barked. With his gut rebelling the way it had, he should have torn his way from the bush and charged forward to stop Alswytha bodily or force her out of the way and allowed himself to be caught in the trap instead. The fact that he had not and now she was wounded and the pack weakened as a result was eating away at him, guilt and regret gnawing greedily inside of him.

"You could not have known," Theodore said at last, voice lowered for Cole's ears only. The pair continued to watch the proceedings off in the tangles, hearing the awkward creak of straining metal. Tafari had changed back to his bulk of a human shape. "It was not your fault."

"It was. It is." The steadiness had returned to Cole's voice and though he still did not turn his head to look at his father there was a certainty in his words. "Gareth has already decided."
