  • In November of 2003, Kyoshi Nabil Nojaim hosted a great camp in El Centro, California featuring Hanshi Shuguro Nakazato and Hanshi Minoru Nakazato. Many of the Shorinkan Sensei did a short demonstration in their honor. We did Passai-sho and a bunkai/skit. Fun Stuff! -Neil Stolsmark

  • rinacata,

i'm not sure how long you've been training, but you might have missed the class on respect & courtesy in the martial arts. that is sad too.

kyoshi stolsmark has done more in his martial arts life than people could hope to accomplish in 2 lifetimes. this man is one of the most highly respected and accomplished karateka's in north america, if not the world.

i think you should apologize for your rude comments. just because something is different, doesn't mean it sucks.

  • The performance of the kata, as well as the bunkai are truly amazing. Most of the bunkai seems really efective. And the rest -I mean when Kyoshi Neil Stolsmark bows as the other guy kicks- is fun!

  • very amazing i to am working on my passai sho bunkai so i can test for nidan. its not a kyoshi noujaim it is a my sensei requirement nice performence very well thought out kudos for u and your dojo.

  • I can't stop laughing @ 4:00

  • Greetings Sensei Stolsmark, kudos on this great presentation and creative bunkai. This kata, along with Passai Dai and Okan were my favorites back when I trained at the old YKS. Nice work!

  • @ShihanPayne Remember that bunkai is a concept, as long as it works, it's acceptable. Definitely creative though, and I'm sure some of it was for embellished a little.

  • Check out the older looking dude to the right of Kyoshi. Kudos to him.

  • Hi Kyoshi Stolsmark ! We know that this kind of bunkai is for show , but even doing as you did , there are many interesting stuff in your demonstration . Your "show bunkai" is more realistic and technically deeper than much serious bunkai" made by "famous masters" .

Your understanding of this kata is very good and I want to congratulate you ! Many people can criticize because your karate isn't doing like a robot . Martial arts must have flow .

    Peace . Greetings from Brazil - Shorin-ryu .

  • so was this bunkai used for show, because a lot of this I've never seen before, like when you tried to chuck that one wmoan across the stage. I'm not criticizing it or anything, I just thought it was unique

  • And ending my comments on this video. I would like to say that with all respect I don´t like the karate shown in this video at all. I am used to more traditional shorin ryu Okinawan karate. I can understand rinacata´s comments (My teacher is Miyazato Shoei Sensei, best friend of Iha Sensei, both students of Miyahira Sensei), although he was perhaps too much up front with his comments. I don´t like to see karate as a sport, but I respect people who are really fan of it. My regards to all

  • Continuing... to shadowxvincent: What do you mean by "real fight"?? Do you mean a open MA tournament or some attacker on the streets? tournaments are not real fight. If you have to defend your life on the street, that is real fight. And in this case, it is about the person not the martial art. In order to be able to defend yourself sucessfully you have to be cold minded and mentally prepared in order to use the right technique, in addition to good phisical condition and technical knowledge
