I saw a video of them performing this song and the guy playing bass in this video played the guitar in the other video, whereas the guitarist in this video did bass. Do they swap roles sometimes or something?

You must be talking about Ana Matronic and yes she adds alot to the band. Just listen to the album and you will see how much. Her spotlight songs on each album are always among my favorites as well.
