Congratulations on your first telescope. You have hours of fun ahead of you. Jupiter is the white star in the west when the sun goes down. A few hours later a reddish looking star is in the east , that's Mars*. Planets have a constant glow to them. Stars twinkle planets glow steady, remember that. The moon is a good view too. Now go out and start looking! *By the time Mars is visible Jupiter may have gone away.-A
