This is a baptism cake for a beautiful baby boy! The cake was airbrushed in a baby sky blue sheen color that I mixed myself with several colors. The clouds were piped using royal icing as well as buttercream icing (because I ran out of royal icing and was in a hurry). Hee hee! Any way, the little angels and baby were hand sculpted out of gumpaste and were very fun to make! The top tier of the cake is chocolate butter cake and the bottom tier is yellow vanilla butter cake. Both tiers are filled and iced with vanilla buttercream icing. Yumm-O! :)

  • gorgeous!

  • Thank you! :0)

  • Did you make your gumpaste figurine all in one piece? That baby is cradled perfectly.

Do you mke your own gumpaste?

Thanks for the helpful tips Laura!

  • Thank you! The figurines are made in parts and then assembled together. I make my gumpaste mixing the crappy Wilton fondant with tylose. :0)

  • Honestly Laura...I haven't come across any dislikes in ANY of your videos! I can't stress enough how important professionalism is. You even knowledge errors! Your passion truly shows. Following your cakes has given me so much inspiration!

For me, I always use MM fondant because it tastes galaxies better than Wilton, and as a high school student...budget is tight. I can never get a hold of Statin Ice! There is a Chef Duff fondant brand, but I've never tried it.

  • You're a sweetheart! Thank you for the wonderful and kind words. I agree with you about the Wilton fondant. I tasted it once... ONCE! LOL! It tasted like cardboard! LOL! I'm so glad you find my work inspiring! I can only get Satin Ice online because no one here in my city sells it. :0)

  • The wings were cut out by hand using an Xacto knife. What a cake like this costs really depends on WHO is making the cake for you... My cakes tend to be a bit pricey. :0)

  • Thank you Danielle! Happy New Year girlfriend! Love you! :)

  • I love this one Laura, very simple yet so stunning. The topper is adorable I just love the hair! so cute.
