Contrary to what some in Congress seem to believe, the American people still respect the Constitution and expect government to stay within its limits. Too often, however, constitutional authority has become an afterthought in Washington. Rep. John Shadegg says every act of Congress should include the specific constitutional authority upon which the bill is being enacted. What's your position?
This is an idea that sounds good but will have no practical effect. Congress will just throw in Commerce Clause or Tax Authority as the justification for everything. A better idea would be that any tax or penalty applies to Congress members twice as much. And a Constitutional Amendment that limits terms.
