@xxa455xx Carnegie's genius was to fund a startup library grant to a local community, then have the public pick up the remaining 90% tab. Like a sports stadium built with tax money, but with the logo "CenturyTel Center" planted on the facade. The state would bear the real cost, the corporate name take the credit.

@xexixk Camden is not in good shape, being abandoned by the private sector is one thing but when the city government can’t even afford to keep open a library and cuts half of the police and 1/3 of its fire department then something is really off

Wonderful commentary! The US concentration of wealth is at levels comparable to that of feudal times: the top 1% own 60% of the wealth in the US. The right-wing's 19th century plan is not just a slogan. . .these turds actually think that there is enough military capability in the US to maintain these levels of wealth inequality with a military and police state. Peace.
