  • I know what you lot mean.We use to go there a fair bit from Croydon. We have relatives there still.I remember the things on the vid.I wish I could go back to those times. They were nicer.

  • I used to go here as a kid every year from London. I love the place. Haven't been back in years but would love to go one day.

  • @wombat1948 My first job was working for C.H. Chaston in Holland-on-Sea as a builders clerk in 1961. Ron Covell was my boss. I worked there for 2 years before returning to Canada in 1963.

  • @breezybbe My dad did the scaffolding.

  • @wissyman1 dont boast about it, its nothing to be proud of

  • @breezybbe That unfortunately burnt down in 1973.

  • Great video! Does anyone know the name of the music track or the artist? Thanks for the memories :)

  • I was born and went to school in Clacton and would have been 7 when this video was made. It does bring back some very fond memories. Anyone remember the Butlins camp which we all used to sneak in to?...lol

  • This video brings back wonderful memories of Clacton as it was when I first came down here to do a `summer season` ,in May 1969,as solo organist at Valley Farm Camping Ground(as it was called then-owned by local families-Pawsey and Chaston) and the entertainments manager was famous bandleader, Ronnie Mills, with Ron Covell the general manager.

Things were totally different then-Clacton was a resort, buzzing with entertainment.

    Thanks for the memories,

    wombat 1948
