@beebfader I have to disagree with you on that one! This is giving you a rough idea what the beat is like. Practice makes perfect and feel will come depending on how you translate the groove into your own voice. There is nothing wrong with lessons on being taught the basics. Listening to others makes you a drummer as that is our role alongside keeping the beat when playing music

Listen to the clock in your head and bash it out....if you need to be TAUGHT drums, you're not a drummer.
-
@PREZCAN: I agree completely. This allows for the beginner to absorb the rudimentary rhythm and develop their own style.

you commenters don't seem to understand the idea of what a lesson is all about. if you're trying to teach something to a beginner you don't show off. you slow it down and try to simplify it. and to the idiot who says you don't play funk with a metronome: BS. practicing with a metronome is great for all styles of music... particularly ones that rhythmically complex like funk.

@LesPaul4444 you should listen to the expert people commenting..

Yeah come on. You should be completly perfect. You should listen to these expert drummers. obviously these guys are experts. You should be called not perfect village because apperantly there is only one way to play a song.

Seriously?
Your like 20-30 bpm off tempo, there is literally no ghosts notes or bass drum improvisation, which is essentially the core characteristic of funk drumming. IMPROV.
The Godfather Of Soul must be turning in his grave :/

@dzynone I hear what you're saying, but I don't like spreading negativity, so I just dont comment on it.
-
@dzynone you gotta admit he deserves it honestly

you don't play funk with a metronome...
This is a lesson in mediocrity.
Wrong tempo. Half the bass drum beats are missing, the left hand grace note 16ths on the snare are missing and the all important open hi hat.
