DOL-Fin Hydrofoil Monofin System

This is the DOL-Fin (Dynamic Oscillating Lateral-Fin), a new hydrofoil monofin swimming system for SCUBA and freediving. The DOL-Fin uses high aspect ratio hydrofoil based monofin technology, which results in very efficient swimming propulsion. The DOL-Fin can provide SCUBA divers the advantages of speed and range similar to using a diver propulsion vehicle (DPV). Unlike a DPV, the DOL-Fin has no depth limit, no batteries to recharge or replace, no electric motor to require maintenance and is extremely lightweight and easy to carry.
The DOL-Fin is a simple, lightweight, robust and maneuverable monofoil architecture. Compared to other flapping hydrofoil swimmer propulsion systems such as DARPA's PowerSwim (based on the Aqueon), and the Lunocet, the DOL-Fin has advantages which we think will make it the preferred hydrofoil based swimmer propulsion system.

What is that thing called that is motorized and goes between the swimmers ankles? I saw it recently and it looks awesome, but can't find it anywhere on here...

@charlesmadison1986 I think you are referring to Formula 3 Freediving (F3F). If not that, then maybe you saw Jet Boots DPV.

Impressive. Question? With endurance swims, how much toll does it take on the muscles? It's amazing the speed, just wondering the fatigue factor. And how does one go about getting one?

@LanceWinslow5 - I have swum 0.5 miles in 15 min. on 800 psi from a standard 80 tank at about 20 ft. depth using a DOL-Fin Classic monofin. That's an average of 2 mph, which is a quick but very sustainable speed and completely comfortable as well.

is there anywhere u can get them 4 cheeper cuz i a 15 yr old kid but i water babby and love swimming wif dolphins but cant keep up and i dont have tht money just lying round or would it be better to make my own

@KrBandidas I don't think that one is a lunocet. there is a clip where a guy was sort fo standign on water for a second like a dophin using Lunocet. I wonder if normal Monofin can do that as well

@JoeFloDM8 - It's like a powerful DPV; when you get it going too fast, your regulator may self-purge from the water pressure acting on the second stage. Solutions are: Use a side mount regulator, have the second stage retuned to a higher activation pressure, or just slow down. Normally, you would not swim that fast with SCUBA, but this video demonstrates that you can when you want to.
