  • most artists who win this thing are either established independents or rising talents who make culturally impacting and creative music.

and i'm sorry but nobody deserved this more than PJ. that album is the album of the ages. it will be the album the kids will turn toward decades down the road for inspiration. this is PJ's most accomplished and most ambitious work to date.

  • I'm so pleased for Polly to win this award, she deserves the recognition and more. She still looks as lovely as ever. Class.

  • 1:17 - EAT IT ADELLE!

And, of course, congrats to Polly, a true original and great artist and still as beautiful as ever after all those years.

  • I thought jools holland could speak!

  • I feel bad for her cause we all know she's not going to win the Brit award and that adele is going to win it just because she sold million of copy's when it wasn't even that good of an album.

  • I knew that she would win it the minute I heard the first single. In January 2011.

  • I really like that PJ's persona off stage is very humble and soft-spoken while she is a force of nature on stage and able to express her various alter-egos and brash personalities into her work.

  • she deserves it, every her album is at least good!

  • @TheTestingGrounds so... you gave me the reason =)

  • @Fender1976uk I give Adelle credit for not copying any of her contemporaries, and I wouldn't say she was copying Amy Winehouse, but was influenced by her and the same music that inspired Amy. Wait and see how many up and comers will try to copy Adelle and Amy.

  • @Fender1976uk What I meant was she's made enough money, so what's the big deal to her if she didn't win the Mercury prize.

  • @MeliLeflay She is not a goddess, she is a person. I'll bet a million quid she'll be the first to tell you. I'm saying this as someone who has every album she's made. Ana Calvi might be a beginner, with only one album I suppose she is, but watch out......she has huge potential.

Btw, I think Let England Shake stands a good chance being the best album of this decade.
