can i take the magnet and the wires out of my regular rock band pedal and just tape it on to my mapex drum pedal instead of doing this

Wtf this makes no sense.....I don't get it. The pedal makes a deep bass-drum kinda noise anyway when hitting it. Why do you need all this crap? All it would do is add more excess noise and waste your money.

if noise is your one major concern, then this mod isn't for you. This mod is geared more towards those that aren't comfortable with the stock pedal, either for its design or for the strength of the spring inside which can cause discomfort and or cramping.
In short, if you're okay with the stock pedal, then by all means, stick with it. I am in no way saying that everyone should drop around $100.00 or however much it costs someone to build this.

cont. I'm not even saying that this mod is all that much better than the stock pedal. But, if you're not happy with the stock pedal, then here's an alternative.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use the parts from the stock rock band pedal. It should work.
