It's the weekend before Veterans Day, and the Strasburg Railroad hosts its annual and popular event known as Trains & Troops. During this event, many men and women are dressed in military uniform to partake in the festivities, which included riding the train, talking to the public, and making it seem like one was really back during WWII, the era being portrayed. In the first part of this two-parter, we take a look at the regular passenger train, as ex-N&W #475 provides power for this train. We'll also see ex-CN #7312 power the 10-car Troop Train, on its eastbound journey. Stay tuned for part two, featuring #7312 strutting her stuff!

  • What is the deal with them re-numbering #31 to #7312?

  • That was its number on the CN.

  • Then whey did they change it to #31, and why did they change #89 to #911 at one time?

  • It was done for the CN photo charter held last November.

  • Why did they change 7312 to 31 in the first place?

  • Strasburg simply removed the 7 and the 2 and made her thier #31.

  • If you're a reenactor, do you get to pay a reduced fare or ride for free on the troop trains? I'm thinking about coming up for this event this year.

  • @Chase1609 judging maybe the size i wouldnt be surprised i live near the station so i get to see it every now and then. they havent run this little guy for a while... hey they made Thomas out of a Porter switcher... i nearly lost my hearing yo that thing twice XD every time it was there there was something wrong with a valve or they were letting out the 4 month old stagnent water XO

  • This is a real nice video. You have some great shots of the trains real close to the camera. The shot from the side is what some hollywood movie types are like with the steam spraying over the camera. The other one with the camera in the middle of the tracks is nice too.I hope the camera lived on that one.You should build a little wood box to hold the camera the next time and bury it a little more in the rocks to hold it in place next time.
