  • I keep getting enquiries about the vocalist. It is Sam Browne - he sang on over 2,000 recordings with lots of dance bands including those of Jack Hylton, Ambrose and Lew Stone. I like Sam Browne’s professionalism and good sense of timing. You can watch him singing on this channel; search for the video titled: Evelyn Dall, Sam Browne & Ambrose Orchestra - movie clip

  • AHHHHHH I saw this from the credits of Mrs. Henderson Presents, and I just loved it!!!! It's so cool!!!

  • we have to dance to this in our show we do tap tp it and we have to do it really fast and i am only 11 hahaha xxxxxxxx thnx 4 uploading it

  • I love this song

  • Wakey-Wake-aaaay!

Haha love it, my parents always had this show on.

  • Ever since I heard this number on the film of Mrs. Henderson Presents I have loved its carefree melody. I thinki Will Young did very well in covering this but the original always wins. Thanks for posting this.

  • @flammasherman Blimey - another blast from the past - I had forgotten all about old AB! Yes, probably it is him singing - he was with BC for about 40 yrs wasn't he. I remember now my dad telling me how the son, BC Junior, fired him eventually - don't know if they didn't get on, or maybe AB was simply too ancient by that time.

  • @chickmaddi Absolutely !, Will Young's version is reallly great, but I love the real swing in this version, will never critisise Billy Cotton again !.I assume it is the late Alan Breeze on vocals ?.

  • @flammasherman Oh boy, how I agree with you about the B Cotton Band Show - I couldn't stand it either - and of course my parents loved it, so I was overuled! Your comment brought back such memories. Having listened to different versions of this lovely little tune, I think I like Will Young's version best, altho I accept that may well be down to a fondness for Will, compared with a lifelong aversion to Billy Cotton!

  • I think this is the definitive version of this brilliantly catchy song.I remember as a child playing a Columbia 78 in a box of records bought by my fatker in his youth. It was by The Four Muskateers and hadn't heard it in over 40 years.Always thinking I'd almost imagined it and then a few years back heard Will Young's great version in ' Mrs Henderson '.But this arrangement is the best in my opinion, funny how I couldn't stand Billy Cotton's Band Show when I was a kid !.
