THIS CROSLEY SUPER CONVERTIBLE IS ONE OF 391 CONVERTIBLES MADE THIS YEAR. CROSLEY MADE RADIOS AND REFRIGERATORS FOR YEARS BEFORE MAKING THE FIRST ECONOMY CAR IN 1939. THE MAINSTAY ENGINE FOR ALL OF CROSLEY'S LIFE WAS AN L HEAD FOUR CYLINDER, 44 CID, PRODUCING A MEASLEY 26 HP. WHICH WAS ADEQUATE ENOUGH FOR A 1,400 LB. CAR. THERE WERE 7 MODELS OF CROSLEY PRODUCED THIS YEAR: BUSINESS COUPE, 2-DOOR SUPER SEDAN, 2-DOOR WAGON, 2-DOOR SUPER WAGON, SUPER CONVERTIBLE COUPE - ( SHOWN ), HOTSHOT ROADSTER, AND SUPER SPORTS ROADSTER. THE EARLY FIFTIES WAS A TIME WHEN THE AUTO MAKERS ESPECIALLY THE BIG THREE, HEAVILY DISCOUNTED CAR PRICING, AND CONSUMERS DEMANDED LARGER AND MORE POWERFUL CARS. THIS CAUSED THE DEMISE OF THE CROSLEY CAR THE NEXT YEAR, 1952. THIS EXTREMELY RARE SUPER CONVERTIBLE APPEARS BRAND NEW. PERHAPS, THIS IS THE ONLY '51 SUPER CONVERTIBLE IN EXISTENCE. SO, FROM THE MAKER OF QUALITY RADIOS AND FRIGES, THIS LITTLE CAR HAD A GOOD RUN FOR 13 YEARS. THANKS VERY MUCH FOR VIEWING THIS RARE CROSLEY.

  • Something else I'll share with you once my designs are copyrighted, are my plans for Crosleys: the 1000 and 1300 sedan, the PDQ pickup and delivery, the Super Sports coupe, and the HotShot cabriolet.

  • @OldcarsNmusic Got plans for Crosley also? You have quite an imagination. Better check if the Crosley name is still copyrighted if you want to use that name. But admire your plans. Thanks.

  • Hey, Warren! Nicely redone Crosley...always thought those sliding tops were pretty cool, and a low cost alternative to the usual folding ones. Nice paint and interior on this one! :) Jack

  • @raconter1 :Yes, Jack this is a rare and beautiful little car. Crosley had it right but the big 3 did all of the independents in. This Crosley has been restored incredibly. Thanks Jack for viewing.

  • @DAKOTA56777 I can believe people were too lazy to take off their ad. Another form of frustration one doesn't need when actively searching for something. Anyway, good for you in your quest.

  • @frazernick1 Hey, I really enjoyed seeing your Crosley and videotaping it. I haven't seen a Crosley in years and this was a real treat to see your exceptional Cros. Interesting statistics about who would buy a Cros. I bet that was a great experience to sell Crosleys to others your age. What a interesting person you are. I'm sure that this Crosley is a fun car to drive and own. Thanks so much for displaying it at the car show. What a treat to see!

  • Yeah took for ever mainly because half of them were sold, people are too lazy to take them off I guess.

  • Thanks to the gentleman that took pictures of my Crosley in St. Louis. Who bought them when Crosleys were new? A Mr. RC Ackerson did research some years ago. He found: business owners 15%...skilled laborers, 11.8% ...professional men, salesmen and unskilled workers, 9%...clerical workers, executives, 5.5%...housewives, 5.89%...students, 3.78%...then all the rest. I was 17 and worked for a Crosley dealer in Kansas City, and sold them to my fellow students. Crosley is a real "fun car".

  • @DAKOTA56777 Great! Glad U found one.

  • @DAKOTA56777 Hemmings Motor News magazine or go on line and look under the C cars for sale section.
