It is a shame that Islam has swept the Middle East and North Africa! What nice would this region look without Islam and the Arabic invasion as orthodox dominated region!

What we need is an own aramaic state as homeland for them like the Jews had achieved it! The world must not be watching how Muslim warriers are cleansing the Middle East ethnically and religiously! Which region will be the next aim if we do not stop them?! Oh Lord, help them survive!

In the Syriac Orthodox and other Orthodox Churches, the concept of Mary being immaculately conceived is not accepted. The Orthodox Church does not accept the Augustinian view of original sin. It accepts the consequences of Adam's sin upon everyone (death and separation from God, thereby the capacity to sin). Hence the need for Mary to be "immaculate" is irrelevant. The church holds quite dearly that Mary was pure, but not a different species. The Theotokos needs Jesus too!

Half of the Christian brain is a wanna-be Jew... and the other half hates Jews...

One half sees Jesus as a Jew born of a Jewess and respected RABBI among the Jews. But the other half, hates the Jews for maiming, spitting on him and have him bloodied, cleved, and crucified.

One side wants "Jesus" to be ALIVE and WELL in respect as all the Muslims do, but the other half want him DEAD and BURIED for salvation of sins (Lying Paul's teachings).

@deaconzach This is a very interesting but complex matter. Thank you for having exposed it quite clearly. Yet I think it should not prevent christian brothers: catholics, orthodox and syriacs alike, to praise Mary and her Son together. I am catholic but I rejoice to see that there are still christians in those predominantly muslim lands, praying and speaking in the language of our saviour! God bless you all!

@maxismax100 You must have never Luke - or you must have forgotten that Jesus gave his "mother" into John's care as his last act. Jesus refers to Mary as "woman" to signify her position as the new Eve, not to demote her. (The seed of the "woman" will crush your head). Mary represents the entire church. She said all generations will call her blessed - the true church is in line with this prophecy - apparently not you. The church "invented the Bible," otherwise you wouldn't have it to misquote.

@maxismax100 Is this a personal opinion? Where does it say in the Bible that Mary is not the mother of God? The Church from early on believed she was the Mother of God. The idea was formalized to support the divinity of Jesus, not to puff up Mary. Some questioned in the early church, &afterward only in the 1600's. Still the majority of Christians believe. So-you versus the majority of saints&martyrs-your ideas pale in their brightness. Thumpers have trouble here, seekers come to understand.
