A raging wall of fire destroyed seven row homes in Tremont's worst disaster in recent years. About 20 people reportedly lost their homes in the blaze. Forty-foot-high flames ripped through the two-story structures along a half-block of West Main Street on Friday afternoon as firemen futilely tried to check the fire's advance. There were no serious injuries in the fire and a cause of the blaze is under investigation by a state police fire marshal.
