Solomon was the son of David and Bathsheba. He came to the throne aided by his mother, Nathan the prophet, and Zadok the priest. Solomon prayed for wisdom and became famous for his wise sayings. He built the first Temple in Jerusalem using forced labor and materials obtained from Hiram of Tyre. Solomon solidified his power by marriage alliances with other kingdoms. These marriages eventually led to the establishment of pagan shrines in Jerusalem.

1 Kgs 3:1-15 - Prays for wisdom.
1 Kgs 8:1-6 - Dedicates the temple
1 Kgs 11:1-13 - Marriages and idolatry

We get warnings from God, just as Solomon received from the prophet Nathan. But I see and may we all see how easy it is to ignore.

I pray for us to become more sensitive to the promptings of God by way of the Holy Spirit.

And for strength over our fleshly temptations that they may not rule us.

I think they were fairly dark but had conflicts and mixing with nubians adding

an array of even darker complexions

I don't think Solomon consulted God, prior to his marriage to the Pharoah! That marriage was his downfall. She eventually drove a wedge between him and God. He should have listened to Nathan!
