If I did see this in the 1930's I think I would have been scared more because animation was fairly new. : u

When it comes to that, lets face it, we're white and we're lazy. If I land in Africa, I'm not going to want to get off my over privileged white ass to make money. Instead I'm going to wait for the African tribesmen to say "Hey we don't like these people... lets make some money." They make a buck, and I don't have to run out chasing some one faster than me who knows the land, and probably knows there is a lion in that bush over there. It just makes sense that they sold each other.

All these people are guilty of is destroying a good book. It's offensive all around if you are going to put it to race... but honestly... not that racist... it only feels racist because the book was a serious tail referring to race and this is a "funny" cartoon. It was a bad choice, much like doing a cartoon version of brave heart, but it is the audience and their knowledge which gives the race to the characters. In short, it's not the cartoon that is racist. You are.
