@Grant116905 Well, you clearly missed my point. I'm not going to engage you anymore, as I realize the pointlessness of getting involved with an internet argument with an angry narcissist. Have a great life, and I truly hope you find yourself a group of people with whom you can spend your time who don't mind a loud-mouthed know-it-all.

@hiimbrady Your comment on the axle being a possible cause is laughable as they would both have had to fail and the likelihood of both failing simultaneously is astronomically low. Also, the chance of both brake systems simultaneously failing in a locked condition is astronomically low. Thus 99.9% chance that someone was on the brakes and that someone was most likely the passenger.

@hiimbrady What kind of retarded internet troll are you? In my initial comment I stated exactly what you are saying, someone was on the brakes or the brakes locked for a mechanical failure. The only point of contention is that I say the experienced tailwheel pilot flying was VERY unlikely to have been applying the brakes in the manner required to flip as it did. Interesting that virtually every knowledgeable pilot who has commented after me echos my opinion.

@Grant116905 What are you, my dad? Cripes.
My point is that you don't know. Maybe somebody was on the brakes, maybe there was a malfunction that caused the brakes to be applied, maybe the axle was compromised, whatever. I don't know either. But you seem certain (with a rather bizarre compulsion to place blame), which I find ridiculous.

@hiimbrady Why do you question my statement? Certainly more info has come out on this? What's the final word?

Yet in this video there is smoke coming off the tires the whole time. I can't believe any tail wheel pilot making an error to that extent. They might flip a plane, but they won't STILL be smoking the tires as the tail is well above the horizon and rising fast.
-
@hiimbrady As an honest guy, why would you question me? It was clearly an excessive brake application for an extended period of time. I have done this in my plane and the moment you feel the tail coming up you're off the brakes instantly. You CAN'T mistake the feeling of the tail coming up and it's clear what the solution is, get off the brakes.

@Grant116905 As an honest guy I have to ask; why are you so sure that you know what you're talking about?

In Brazil we call this kind of accident 'Pilonar "when the pilot lost control and the plane crashes to the floor nozzle with a movement similar to a pestle.

that wasent crashing that was landing in style
As a fellow tailwheel pilot, I can assure you that either the $%%&**%@ passenger was on the brakes or the brakes had failed in a weird and locked position. NO tailwheel pilot would EVER get on the brakes so hard as to smoke the tires like that. Everything in a tailwheel landing is gentle and subtle control movements, sometimes quick, but still relatively gentle. I feel very bad for that pilot because he was just along for the ride and powerless to fix what the passenger did.

@BrandonLeo3 No, that was a $10,000 mistake... upwards of $100,000... dang passenger on the brakes.
