Hearty THANKS to Allan George for being so generous. This vid tries the Gauntley's Spiced Turk:

From the Gauntley's website:

Spiced Turk (Strength 2, Flavor 2, Taste 3):
For this years autumn blend, I decided to create a subtly sweet but mainly savory aromatic. The tobacco is a Dutch style "Dry" aromatic, not depending heavily on lots of casing to create a complex flavour. The blend is made up a (non goopy) Black Cavendish, Virginias & Turkish. With the added flavours of sweet rose, cinnamon & nutmeg. The use of Turkish tobacco & sweet rose, which tastes a little like Turkish Delight. I have called this blend, "Spiced Turk".

Spiced Turk was launched at the September Nottingham pipe club & was highly recommended by those who tried it. The tobacco will be available in store on online until the end of November, it will be replaced with the 2011 "Christmas Spice".

  • Good to hear you came out of the surgery fine and all is well. That's one of my nagging fears...when appendicitice comes to visit me. My wife's burst and it was aweful...

    Ken =)

  • @Charredbriar - Sorry about your wife, Ken. One less thing to worry about for me.

  • Sorry to hear that you had the appendicitis, but good to hear that things went so smoothly and you are recovering. When I hadn't seen you for a while I was worried that giant banana slug had maybe got ya..lol. Anyway, nice to see you and always good to sit here and sort of share a smoke with you. Take care chopping wood and such until the wound is fully healed ;-)

  • @hampshirepipe - I'm back to 100%, though the shaved belly hair is itchy. I'm blessed that's the worst of it (other than the insurance co-pay!).

    -Tom

  • I am glad you found the smoke pleasant. The flavourings are light, i dont care much for goopy, over flavoured aromatics. I dont see the point in adding flavours that over power the tobacco.

    Hope you enjoy the Yataghan, no flavourings on those. Just sun, flue & fire cured tobaccos. Virginias, Turkish & Kentucky.

  • @glo0115 - Yataghan in the next vid, Glynn. Well done - it's very good! I really appreciate your creativity in blending, and the dry aromatic style.

    -Tom

  • i have to find gauntley's all the blends seem so right when you smoke 'em. all the best on your recovery.

  • @NWPipeSmoker Oh, she's ok now...this happened years ago but it required a surgical incision about 6 inches long and she took awhile to heal...got an infection...they had to go in again...it was bad. She's all good now, though. You don't have a "significant other" in your life yet to worry about? Suprising....as great a person as you are...

    Ken =)

  • Good to see you.... The tobacco from Glynn sounds interesting. Couldn't agree more with you about how relaxing pipe smoking is and how it connects us with the past. It is a great thing to be a pipe smoker!

    -Matthew

  • Nice to see you again. Seems like the Spiced Turk is a winner. I wish it was easier to get. Gauntley's is lucky to have Glynn running it. thanks Gregg
