ON STONE UNTURNED

The question seems both high and deep

And keeps us from much needed sleep.

We know that it must needs be sought.

It is a fight not as yet fought.

And from this task we must not quit.

The sages point the way it:

The answer, which is yet unknown,

Is graven deep upon a stone.

Where is this Truth that must be found? Cold pebbles never make a sound. To us it seems too hard a task When no one is around to ask. Where is this Truth we search to know? We read each rock where ere we go. Into each crack we shine a light, But darkness yet corrupts our sight. And in repose when day is done, The battle has not yet been won. The lesson is as yet unlearned: The answer lies on stone unturned.
