I thought about becoming a teacher, but then I'd have to kick kids out of my room and tell them they can come back when they quit wasting my time and their parents money. Sometimes it's neither the parents or the teacher's fault, but parents do need to take more responsibility, and teachers need a bit more respect.

Other people's children might be the ones that run you over while they're texting, but they might also be the surgeons that save your lives... And the parents might have absolutely nothing to do with either of those situations... But I agree with him: in general, teachers aren't the ones causing the problem... But you can't always blame it on the parents either!

@blueferret85 The problem with that is that the poison of religion seeps into the lives of people who don't beleive in it. Like when religious people try to make their prejudices into law. Gay rights, comes to mind. We all know in our hearts it's the right and fair thing to do, but they are so stuck on their fairy tale book, they can't do the right thing.

@ididete ...and then we wonder why kids seem to get dumber and dumber. I graduated from a primarily white, middle-class, suburban high school with kids who could barely read and do basic math. The teachers just passed them to avoid the "hassle" of failing them. If students are disruptive or unwilling to learn the school system should throw them out and let their parents pay for private schooling - I bet parents would change their tune real quick when it comes to discipline.
