  • Also nice to see what the original George Washington Bridge tolls looked like... I am pretty familiar with that location I've been across it many times... you may also notice there is only one deck on the bridge, in which a second was added in 1961.

    Also I may note they had yet to forsee the fundamental designation of one-way streets in Manhattan which were imposed to reduce some pretty bad gridlock congestion at the time.

  • Incredible they didn't think about limited-access freeways at the time like our Interstate Highway System. This video even predates the Merritt Parkway near where I live. But yes in 1937 it's imaginable that paved roads at all were the most advanced compared to dirt roads used by wagons.
