Windsurfing Boom Cam

Testing an inexpensive sports mini DV camera that I bought from Dealextreme (SKU 65341). This is just to show what kind of output you get from the camera, so don't expect high entertainment value. ;)
I did a quick edit job using Quicktime Player (the old version) to cut the material down from about 40 minutes to 5 minutes. It's probably still too long. You may want to turn the audio way down - it's what the camera captures when the waterproof plug is in place, so it's not that enjoyable.
The first segment with the camera at the back of the boom is on an iSonic 115 and KA Koncept 6.6. The boom front was too wide for the mount that came with the camera, so I used my S-Type 93 with KA Koncept 5.8 for the next segment (the narrower boom allowed the mount to be used). The wind wasn't quite strong enough for the 5.8, so I used the elastic band that came with the camera to attach it to the boom on the 6.6.
The field of view is probably not quite wide enough for the front of the boom or the camera needs to go a bit closer to the front, but the footage from the back of the boom was a pleasant surprise. I don't have helmet cam footage yet (no helmet), nor anything from the top of the mast (I think that will work really well - I just need to decide on how to attach the camera to the top on the larger sails with not vario tops).

@xas97 Yes, it has a microphone, so but it is under the waterproof cap, so it doesn't pick up much sound when you use the camera in a wet environment.

@tbkasp I think if you want excellent 720p quality, you spend a bit more on the camera, so I agree with you there. The lens isn't anywhere good enough for 5 Mpixel stills. I suspect this is a case of reality not meeting expectations. I had relatively low expectations, so I was pleased.
When the camera has to be this close to the subject, 120° FOV is maybe not wide enough, so that's another point in favor of the GoPro.

I've also purchased this cam on DX. I am dissatisfied :( It is blurry and in your video I can see this too... Maybe in underwater and windsurfing scenes it is not so important. But for biking it's crucial. If you want clear image you need branded camera such as GoPro HD
