A tutorial on how to make a piston powered fence-portcullis that can open and close with various ways of controlling the gate. Easy redstone wiring which is minimal and simple, so you don't have to be an electrical engineer to make this.

I made a follow-up video to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-B0Pnlcehw

It's possible that I used the same redstone design as others, but I wouldn't know as I haven't found any other tutorials or schematics on this. I designed every part of this myself.

If you got problems getting it to work, I'll gladly take a look at it, if you upload some pictures or your world.

  • I got the gate working fine, its just the design I need help with. My fence continues to get attached to the blocks I put around it, anyway to stop that?

  • @ThamuzOblivion not after 1.8

  • @NuclearFilms6 Not sure what exactly you mean, PM me a screenshot

  • @TheYogesvara I made a 5x5 gate that opens and closes by means of levers on both sides, with a lock on the inside and I'm doing a tutorial next if you are interested in learning how to do it.

  • @TheJonathany It works for me, but only every second time I open it.

  • @TheJonathany Any idea if there is a fix? I'm really bummed, finally found a good tutorial and now the game doesnt work with it anymore. =(

  • @ThamuzOblivion You can maybe make a mechanism that makes gravel/sand fall next to it or have half slabs next to it. But i'm not sure!

  • Thanks this works great I just made it in 1.2

  • the top layer of pistons does not stick to the bottom layer, it just stays in mid air with the gravel. What am i doing wrong?

  • any way you can make the gate bigger and wider???

  • the redstone torches on the closing mechanism on the bottom just turn off and dont do anything help!

  • check out mine! its 6 by 6 and yes it pushes up 6 blocks
