This is the story of Bridget Sgroi's adoption. The first in a new series from Sgroiland Pictures this Gotcha video covers the journey to Guangzhou, China for the Sgroi family, the Gotcha, and a visit to the orphanage.
@Alixxxneverland She was in 3rd grade at age 13 (drew it the day the referral picture was taken). Orphans are not regularly sent to school. And thousands of Chinese orphans "age out" at 14-years of age without ever being adopted.
Hi. At 14 years old, as I understand it, the children are no longer eligible for government funding for their care in the Orphanage and Foster Care Systems. They are on their own as citizens of China. They cannot be adopted through international adoption and are subject to the same processes that any chinese person would have to go through if they were to acquire citizenship in another country. It would be nearly impossible for them to do on their own.
There are many places to go for more information regarding Domestic or International Adoption. We used FTIA (Families Thru International Adoption) and Madison Associates.
She drew the picture when she was in 3rd grade (i can read chinese). Why'd it take so long for her to get adopted?
